# Cloud Service Provider (CSP)

A Cloud Service Provider (CSP) is an organization that offers cloud-based infrastructure, platforms, or software services to customers over the internet. The three primary service models are Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS).

CSPs abstract away the complexity of managing physical hardware, networking, and data center operations. Customers can provision and scale resources on demand, paying based on actual usage rather than upfront capital expenditure. This model enables rapid deployment and experimentation with lower financial risk.

In the context of API management and serverless architectures, CSPs provide the compute, storage, and networking primitives upon which serverless functions and API gateways run. Choosing a CSP affects latency, compliance, pricing, and the available ecosystem of managed services. Multi-cloud strategies, which use multiple CSPs, can reduce vendor lock-in but add operational complexity.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.serverlessapigateway.com/glossary/c/cloud-service-provider-csp.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
